Trump has talked of eliminating Iranian civilization, talks about “shit-hole countries,” and calls Somali immigrants “garbage.” There is never a thought for the dead child, the displaced family, the obliterated neighborhood. And Trump is far from being the most murderous U.S. president.
The War on Narco-Terrorism
In violation of international and U.S. law, Trump and his Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have so far carried out 58 attacks on boats in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific, killing 193 people. They claiming they are fighting a war on “narco-terrorists,” though no evidence has been offered and no trials held, just “extra-judicial killing,” that is, murder. Some individuals as well as U.S., foreign, and international organizations have brought suits against the government for the murder of family members and for “crimes against humanity,” but so far, no results.
Trump’s attack on Venezuela and the seizure of Nicolas Maduro, who is also accused of “narco-terrorism,” hailed by Trump as a “perfect” and “spectacular operation,” took the lives of an estimated 80 to 100 Venezuelan and Cuban security personnel and civilians.
The Wars in the Middle East
The Trump administration was not directly involved in Israel’s war on Gaza which had been provoked by Hamas’ attack on Israel, including the killing of civilians. Israel then carried out a genocidal war on Gaza, but the United States provided $1.7 billion in military aid as well as political support and so became a partner in the atrocities there. As of 3 May 2026, at least 73,770 have been reported killed in Gaza, most of them civilians and many children. So their blood too is on Trump’s hands.
The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, at a cost of $25 billion, is estimated to have killed more than 3,000 people, men, women, and children, most of them “collateral damage” of attacks on military targets. The strangulation of the Iranian economy will affect health care and lead to other deaths from lack of medical care.
At the same time, Israel, with U.S. money and arms, launched a new war on Lebanon on March 2, and already by May 9, it had killed 2,795, injured over 8,300, displaced 1.3 million people or 20% of Lebanon’s population, who now search for housing and food.
The War against Immigrants
The war also goes on at home. The Republican Congress added $75 billion to the already $10 billion budget of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to finance its raids and to build new detention centers to hold those it arrested. In the course of its raids in 2026, ICE has killed eight people, some immigrants and some U.S. citizens.
Some 48 people being held in detention at ICE facilities have died during Trump’s second term. Most died from not receiving proper and timely medical attention, nine committed suicide, one was murdered, the rest died from other causes. ICE which runs the facilities and is supposed to provide medical care and a safe environment is responsible for all of their deaths.
And Trump Was Not the Worst
Harry Truman’s and Dwight Eisenhower’s war in Korea took three to five million lives. John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon took two million lives in the Vietnam War. George W. Bush’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan took two million lives. And police and border patrol took thousands of lives. For example, the Texas Rangers killed about 1,500 Mexicans between 1910 and 1920.
This is why we need a movement to end police violence and war and militarism.
