Tanya Vyhovsky shared her incredible story: how she went from being an activist fighting for affordable healthcare to a state senator. [1] Her main goal is to ensure that the voices of ordinary people and workers are heard by politicians. We discussed how effectively American voters can control the government, as well as the problems of democracy that have become particularly acute in American society since Donald Trump was elected president. Tanya also talked about the creation of the Progressive Party in Vermont, which advocates for economic improvement and social protection for ordinary Americans, which has been a real breakthrough in the US two-party system.
Nico Dix spoke about the history of the New Anti-Capitalist Party. It actively supports civil society organisations in France in their fight against acute social problems. Nico urged everyone not to stay out of politics, but to actively influence the life of their country. In addition, he actively supports Ukrainians, creates reports dedicated to Ukraine, and noted that he is making every effort to convey the truth about the war unleashed by Russia, because in French society this information is often distorted by Russian propaganda. It is important to note that Nico and his fellow party members have repeatedly helped with fund raising for Ukrainians.
This meeting was a wonderful example of how civil society and active engagement can change the world for the better. We thank our guests for their experience, openness and support!
