After 59 days of unjust imprisonment, Lyes Touati has finally been acquitted - 59 days of waiting, mobilization, solidarity and determination.

In less than two weeks, the Islamic Republic repeated—on a vast and horrifying scale—all the crimes it has committed over forty-seven years of bloody rule. As many had feared, “the government filled the prisons and cemeteries with protesters.”

Lyes Touati, a member of the Parti Socialiste des Travailleurs (PST), was arrested yesterday in Aokas (Algeria) and remanded in custody. We do not know the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.
