Officially, the second and final term of Félix Tshisekedi, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), ends at the end of 2028. On October 23, 2025, more than 100,000 workers walked off the job in Aotearoa (the Māori-language name for New Zealand): 60,000 teachers, 30,000 nurses, 5,000 doctors, 20,000 allied health workers, firefighters, and public servants. “An important outcome of the two-day training was the drafting of a preliminary Safeguarding Policy and a Code of Conduct for the Bangladesh Krishok Federation. The main objective of this policy is to ensure safety, dignity, and non-discriminatory behavior in the organization’s work with staff members, activists, volunteers, women, children, and marginalized communities.”

But there is the danger that—like the short-lived upsurge around Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter, and the resistance during Trump’s first term in office—much of this activity will burn out for lack of solid grassroots organization, only to leave another trail of undemocratic advocacy NGOs and a tiny number of socialist “electeds” swimming against the current in the Democratic Party.”
The urgency of the global crisis of capitalism, particularly because of the ecological crisis, is undeniable. Answering this question requires a clear vision of the question of power and the transition to another society.
