Hello Nooshi!
On 28 February, the US and Israel started a war against Iran. In a single strike, they killed the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, as well as a large number of leading representatives of the Iranian state and hundreds of civilians. For Trump and Netanyahu, this is a total war that will be pursued to its ultimate consequences. The state terrorism that this entails shook the world, and all European leaders know very well that this was an act that was not only carried out without the approval of Congress, but also violated international law.
The far right and allies of Trump’s megalomania and Netanyahu’s genocidal policies have justified the act of war. There are also those who try to remain silent so as not to provoke Trump. But in Europe, there is one exception. The Spanish government, led by Pedro Sánchez, has refused to allow US military bases in the country to be used to attack Iran.
On 3 March, Trump reacted furiously, declaring: ‘We will stop all trade with Spain. We don’t want anything to do with Spain.’ He also added: ‘Spain has been terrible.’
Trump is convinced that European leaders are his vassals and completely disregards the sovereignty of states. And this is where Pedro Sánchez in Spain has challenged him. After the threats, Sánchez said in a speech on 4 March that his country’s position can be summed up ‘in four words’: ‘No a la guerra’ (No to war), the same slogan that became famous during the Iraq War in 2003.
Sánchez recalled that the US already ‘dragged us into’ the Iraq War in 2003, which, according to him, triggered ‘the greatest wave of uncertainty’ in Europe since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The Social Democratic leader also warned that Spain’s position is ‘clear and unequivocal’ and that the country will not be complicit in ‘the violation of international law that protects us all.’
Since the US and Israel began bombing Iran, Nooshi Dadgostar has not said a word. She has not made any statement distancing herself from the criminal aggression against Iran. Her most recent known statement was on 14 February, when she said that the Iranian regime should be overthrown.
What kind of party is the Left Party? What kind of leader is Nooshi, who does not dare to take a ‘clear and unambiguous’ stance like the Spanish Social Democrats, whom she herself often praises?
Nooshi: come on, let your party support the position of the Spanish Social Democrats.
Do you dare?
