Millions of Americans are deeply saddened and increasingly angry about the murder of Renèe Nicole Good, a mother of three by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Tens of thousands joined “ICE Out For Good” protests in a thousand towns and cities on January 10 and 11. In New York protestors signs read, “Abolish ICE Now!”, “Masks Off! No Secret Police.”, “Trump Must Go Now”. Passing in front of Trump Tower protestors shouted, “Fuck Trump!”

This decision is part of a broader plan to privatise and militarise humanitarian aid. read article...Within the general framework of the multidimensional crisis in which we find ourselves, now aggravated by the stimulus that Trump’s recent electoral victory represents for the rise of an extreme right on a global scale, it seems even more evident that we are witnessing a profound crisis of the international geopolitical (dis)order, as well as of the basic rules of International Law that have been established since the end of the Second World War. The most tragic manifestation of this crisis (which calls into question even the future of the UN) is found in the genocidal war against Gaza (Awad, 2024), to which are currently added around 56 wars across the planet.

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine since February 2022, as well as both national and international policies to deal with the impact of the war, have surely influenced the spaces and networks of social reproduction, both in Ukraine and in refuge. The destruction and resulting displacement, neoliberal austerity, unprecedented border regulations, and refugee policies, have all led to a reconfiguration of social reproduction in Ukrainian society.
The collapse of the national currency and the economy, hyperinflation and wage stagnation are the ingredients of the massive mobilisation that started on Sunday 28 December in the Tehran bazaar and spread to many towns and universities.
