Officially, the second and final term of Félix Tshisekedi, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), ends at the end of 2028. But the latter, in several of his statements, has said he is ready to run for a third term if “the people want it”. The opposition is calling for a large demonstration on 15 September 2026 against a third term for Tshisekedi, who is retaliating with a tailor-made national dialogue.

On October 23, 2025, more than 100,000 workers walked off the job in Aotearoa (the Māori-language name for New Zealand): 60,000 teachers, 30,000 nurses, 5,000 doctors, 20,000 allied health workers, firefighters, and public servants. “These struggles for anti-war peace, the defense of working people’s livelihoods, and the fight for climate justice in the face of a deepening climate crisis are unfolding in response to the multifaceted crises of the capitalist system. As these crises converge into a single unified front, our movements and struggles must likewise interconnect to form a powerful, single stream. The current situation demands nothing less.”

The US war against Venezuela has moved from the covert to the open stage. US armed forces have bombed Caracas, and according to the US President Trump, they have kidnapped the Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife. This unprovoked assault comes after a prolonged period of imperialist aggression with economic sanctions and murderous strikes against boats in the Caribbean Sea, killing more than 100 people in the past few months.
As if they were scripts written by Warren Ellis – The Authority, Transmetropolitan, Planetary – in which exaggerated arguments abound, during the last four months we have witnessed a disproportionate media and military offensive against Venezuelan sovereignty. The double standard of the US administration has gone from buying Venezuelan oil – under neocolonial commercial conditions, as a result of the sanctions imposed by themselves and the compliant attitude of the Maduro government – to presenting the state leadership as a criminal cartel dedicated to drug trafficking, with the aim of justifying a deployment and eventual military attack.
“Gilbert’s commitment was the antithesis of sectarianism. For several years, he had systematically drawn attention to the urgent need for unity in anti-capitalist action in the face of the danger of the far right exploiting social frustrations within the working class itself in order to recruit disaffected elements to the service of reaction. Denouncing electoral illusions, he tirelessly advocated a united front, "the only way to ensure the mobilization of all those called upon to fight if they wish to live with dignity, freedom, and protection from abject poverty." ”
“Ortega has abolished elections. Do not deny Nicaragua the right to choose freely—the same right that could make you president of Brazil for a fourth time.”
