As an island nation already burdened by economic crisis, IMF austerity measures, and climate-induced instability, Sri Lanka’s working people are experiencing the sharpest edge of this disaster. Rural and urban poor communities, plantation workers, farmers, and fisherfolk have borne the brunt of the destruction. Homes have been swept away; critical infrastructure has collapsed; and many families have lost everything they possess.
In this difficult hour, we turn to our international comrades for solidarity.
We are requesting emergency donations to support locally organized relief efforts rooted in community needs. Contributions will go directly toward:
• Immediate distribution of meals, clean drinking water, and essential supplies
• Temporary shelters and sanitation support for displaced families
• Medical assistance for the injured and vulnerable
• Repair of community infrastructure and long-term recovery initiatives
This is not simply a humanitarian appeal—it is a call to uphold our shared global commitment to justice, dignity, and collective care. As climate disasters intensify, international leftist solidarity remains essential to ensure that working people everywhere can survive, rebuild, and continue the struggle for a more just world.
Any amount you can contribute will make a meaningful difference.
Please extend this call to allied organizations, unions, community groups, and individuals who may be able to assist.
Let us also mention that we, as PEOPLES’ STRUGGLE MOVEMENT (PSA), are already engaged in a joint relief process.
