Reacting to Trump’s attack on Venezuela, Catarina Martins argues that the role of a President of the Republic is to make an unequivocal condemnation of the violation of international law and do everything to protect the Portuguese community in that country.

On 3 January 2026, the US took a qualitative leap forward in its imperialist violence, bombing Venezuela and kidnapping Nicolas Maduro. We do not yet know the details of the operation, but we do know the background.
