On Sunday 11 August there were primary elections to determine the candidates for the elections to the senate and legislature. Lists must get 1.5% to be able to stand in the elections next October.

We strongly condemn India’s recent activation of a nuclear-propelled submarine quickly followed by flight-test of another nuclear-capable missile. Brandishing these tools of mass destruction as guarantees of national security while ignoring the issues of real safety, security and well-being of the Indian people demonstrates a perverse pathology.

We, the participants of the 30th Revolutionary Youth International Camp of the Fourth International, are aware of the huge political repressions of militants who took part in the democratic protests in Russia. The shocking train accident in Compostella has left 78 dead and dozens wounded. Esquerda Anticapitalista Galicia wishes to express its full solidarity with the families and the wounded in these hours which are so difficult for the Galician people and other nationalities. Pain and suffering in the face of death cannot be attenuated with words. The only thing we can do is to respect the dead, care for the wounded and support the families.

This joint statement was agreed by the International Socialist Network, Anticapitalist Initiative, and Socialist Resistance delegations to recent unity talks. They met to discuss the formation of a united revolutionary tendency.

The reconstruction of the socialist left in Brazil has made an important step forward. On 7 July, still in the heat of the recent demonstrations that swept the country, about one hundred and sixty delegates attended the Conference which approved the unification between three currents Colectivo Socialismo y Libertad (CSOL), Enlace and the Colectivo Luta Vermelha (CLV), creating a new political organization in the Brazilian revolutionary left, organized within the PSol.

On June 19, 2012, Venecia “Inday” Natinga was shot dead along the street by gunmen riding a motorcycle while she was going home from the town in of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte. She sustained seven (7) gunshot wounds by identified suspects hired by a police officer whom she had disputes with several times in relation to the peasant struggle for land rights.

We, feminist activists, gathered together at the initiative of the Fourth International in Amsterdam on 13-17 July 2013, coming from the Caribbean, Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, the Philippines and Tunisia, express our full solidarity and support for the Egyptian women demonstrators and activists who suffer sexual, moral and physical violence aimed at systematically excluding them from public and political spaces and breaking their commitment to the revolutionary process.

At a seminar in a local hotel, Toba Tek Singh Paani Tehreek (water movement) was launched by the participants and decided to raise the issue of clean water through mass mobilization in the city. The seminar “Clean water a basic human right” was organized by International Institute For Research and Education (IIRE) Islamabad in cooperation with Awami Workers Party and Valiant Social Welfare Organization.
