It is a terribly sad day. NUMSA was expelled in the early hours of this morning. For the record the vote was 33 to 24. As Andrew Chriwa, President of NUMSA said, NUMSA is COSATU. It formed COSATU, with others of course. It shaped COSATU during its different phases and histories.

During the Israeli offensive against Gaza in July the French state took the unprecedented step of banning demonstrations in solidarity with the people of Gaza. The NPA took the lead in maintaining the call for the demonstrations to go ahead. This has led to charges against a leading NPA member who will appear in court on 22 October. The following appeal for solidarity has received wide support.

All the 10 activists facing life sentence spent the Eid in Gilgit jail. They are in good spirit. Although twelve activists have been sentenced to life by Gilgit Anti terrorist court, two of them were declared absconder during the trail that lasted three years.
