In Memoriam - Obituaries and appreciations

In the name of the IIRE-Manila and its network in Mindanao and Philippines, we share the sadness that comrades in the international community felt for the death of Comrade Marijke Colle on 16 April 2023 at the age of 75.

“The best tribute we can pay to her is to continue her struggle, which is ours.”

The death of Ahlem Belhadj in Tunis on 11 March 2023 affected the feminist movement, the trade union movement and the revolutionary left in Tunisia and beyond.

He served as the central figure in the leadership of the International Socialist Organization (ISO) for the better part of his life, presiding over its rise to become the strongest organization of the US revolutionary left – but also the crisis which eventually led to its dissolution in 2019. Now, Ahmed “Shawki” Sehrawy has died, at only 62 years of age.
