Version imprimableIt was the largest anti-WEF demonstration in Switzerland since 2018, when Trump attended the WEF for the first time. The presence of the warmonger and fascist Trump at the WEF was very unpopular with a large number of people. The demonstration was therefore particularly lively and noisy.
However, the strong turnout at this demonstration goes beyond the outrage caused by Trump. It also reflects the fact that more and more people are rebelling against the capitalist economic and social system, which has already caused so many crises and so much suffering in the first weeks of the new year. Anti-capitalist slogans were therefore particularly prominent.
It was striking that Palestine was regularly mentioned in protest against the participation of Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Davos. The latter is jointly responsible for the genocide in Gaza.
MPS action during the demonstration
The Kurdish bloc was also particularly important. Left-wing Kurdish organizations protested against the presence of Syrian butcher Ahmed al-Scharaa at the WEF. The latter is currently attacking the autonomous Kurdish areas in Syria. Solidarity with the Iranian people in revolt was also expressed.
Until yesterday, a delegation from the murderous mullah regime was even invited to Davos. It was only after international protests that the WEF removed the name of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi from the guest list, without comment.
Under the motto “A Spirit of Dialogue”, the WEF 2026 wants to facilitate dialogue between far-right autocrats and business leaders. Yet history has taught us that fascists should not be courted, but fought. The WEF is therefore part of the problem, not the solution.
The replacement of the corrupt WEF president Klaus Schwab by Larry Fink (BlackRock) and André Hoffmann (Roche) changes nothing, but rather symbolizes the current evolution of capitalism. In many countries, including Switzerland, billionaires and big business bosses are taking the political reins themselves in order to assert their financial interests with even greater cynicism. The WEF cannot be reformed. We will continue our resistance against the WEF, its strategic partners and the autocrats present until the WEF is abolished and capitalism is defeated.
