This appeal to workers and activists abroad comes from Ukrainian trade union activists and leaders in Kryvih Rih, as well as supports of various civil society initiatives. It is not an official appeal from any trade union. But it expresses very well the mood and wishes of many Ukrainian trade unionists and NGOs, and the issues they wish to communicate to their counterparts in other countries, less than one month before the elections to the European Parliament.

The union must become larger and stronger if it is to confront the industry as it makes the transition to electric vehicles. The union has organizing drives under way at a Hyundai plant in Montgomery, Alabama and Toyota Motor in Troy, Missouri.”

In the wake of the failed military coup in Turkey, and the massive wave of state repression that has followed, building solidarity with the progressive resistance in Turkey and Kurdistan is even more vital. The attention of socialists and democrats worldwide will be turned towards the reactionary mobilisation that the ruling AKP has unleashed. This will put the HDP (Peoples Democratic Party) and the PKK (Kurdish Workers Party) centre stage.
Within a year two populations of Europe – one in the south, the other in the north – have voted against the EU and its policy. They did this out of entirely different motives and with different aims. Whereas on 5 July 2015 the Greek OXI was directed against the austerity dictates of the Troika and the degradation of Greece to the state of a semi-colonial country, the British Brexit above all was characterized by the fear of “foreigners” and the desire to escape from the freedom of movement in the EU. But at the same time the Brexit expressed the desire to settle accounts with the ruling political elites. Whereas the left was the driving force of the Greek NO, the British NO was captured by the right.
For almost 10 years we have shared the same road with the comrades who today make up the organization known as Marea Socialista, and the dream of the Socialist, Chavista, Bolivarian Revolution. We were loyal to Chavez and his legacy, and for that reason we didn’t hesitate to raise our critical voice against everything that we considered wrong. We always looked to the working class and the students to organize together with them a big national current, first inside the PSUV and then outside it.
“The NPA-l’Anticapitaliste supports the demands put forward by the FLNKS, the CCAT and the mobilized Kanak population: withdrawal of the Darmanin law, withdrawal of the forces of repression, respect for the right to self-determination of the Kanak people, opening of discussions for a decolonization process. In Kanaky as in all colonized territories: no justice, no peace!”
