Salah Hamouri still in prison

The State of Israel has once again imprisoned our comrade Salah Hamouri. Arrested on 7 March at his home, he was subsequently sentenced to four months’ administrative detention - reduced a few days later to three months.

Since then, despite an international protest campaign, Salah has been kept in detention, and the least that can be said is that the French authorities have been conspicuous by their lack of any form of pressure on Israel. This was recalled in a joint text by various organisations, associations and trade unions, demanding Salah’s release (ACAT, Amnesty, FIDH, Avocats sans frontières France, CFDT, CGT, Confédération paysanne, FSU, Human Rights Watch, Plateforme des ONG françaises pour la Palestine, Solidaires, Syndicat des avocats de France, Unef)

A new Israeli military order was issued on 5 June, while Salah’s administrative detention was due to end on 6 June. It extends his administrative detention by three months, until 5 September 2022.

As the support committee points out, and we agree with it:

“Still without trial or charge, based on a secret file to which neither Salah nor his lawyers have access, his arbitrary detention is thus extended. This new iniquitous decision shows the absolute relentlessness of the Israeli authorities against Salah and the obvious lack of action by French diplomacy. Far from being resigned, we will continue to fight against these two injustices.”
