Manuel Rodríguez Banchs, Attorney, social justice activist, and human rights defender. He directed the Clinic Against Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in Río Piedras. He was an assistant professor at the Eugenio María de Hostos School of Law in Mayagüez. He co-directed the Working People’s Party campaign for the 2016 elections. He has represented civil disobedience protesters in Vieques, individuals incarcerated in penal and mental health institutions, communities, and environmental organizations. He was also a researcher for the Case Files Litigation Project of the Puerto Rican Institute for Civil Rights, and in 2005 he entered private practice at a public interest law firm.
