Major anti-nuclear conference in Japan calls international day of action
17 February 2012, byOn January 14-15 2012 more than 10,000 participants from more than 30 countries attended a Global conference for a nuclear free world in Yokohama, Japan. More than 100 guest speakers addressed the conference which included those who had witnessed the disaster of Chernobyl in 1986 and the US nuclear test site on Marshall Islands as well as Fukushima. Attendance from other Asian countries was particularly noticeable but it also included a significant number of European and Australian visitors.
Greek hospital now under workers’ control !

Financial update of the 2011 Pakistan Solidarity Campaign

The donations were transferred through the Pakistani organization, Labour Education Foundation (LEF) with which ESSF has been collaborating for a long time now for various solidarity initiatives.

Stop police violence against strikers
19 December 2011On Friday 16 December, the security forces violently attacked oil workers demanding better living standards in Zhanaozen, Kazakhstan. Ten people were shot dead, more than 70 wounded, and 70 arrested, according to the government. Opposition activists and Russian media say that the number of victims could be much higher.

4 December 2011, byThe 2011 congress of the Socialist Movement "Forward" (Vpered), its sixth, has voted to join with two other socialist organisations to form the “Russian Socialist Movement” (RSD). This congress was notable because the discussion has held in parallel with the preparations for the simultaneous congress of "Socialist Resistance" (Sotsialisticheskoye Soprotivleniye). During many debates and discussions, members addressed the consolidation and unity of the Left forces in Russia and the need to develop a full-fledged political agenda left. These issues took up the major part the Congress.
