Martin Oppenheimer is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Rutgers University and the author of The Sit-In Movement of 1960 (Carlson, 1989). With George Lakey, he wrote A Manual for Direct Action (Friends Peace Committee, 1964 and Quadrangle Books, 1965), which was first used in training for Freedom Summer.
