European Election in Germany: Right wing success, stagnation of the left
7 July 2014, byThe traditionally low participation to the European elections is often seen by radical left people as proof of the low legitimacy of the European Union’s institutions. But things are not so simple. Many people in Germany underestimate the weight of EU-decisions on national legislation, and also the weight of the European Parliament (even if it has not at all the rights of national parliaments like the Bundestag in Germany) in EU-decision-making. Secondly, many people in Germany are simply not interested in what happens politically in other european countries.
The electoral victory of SYRIZA should open the road for a political victory of the Left

The Danish Red-Green Alliance turns 25; celebration and challenges
7 July 2014, byThe recent annual congress of the Danish Red-Green Alliance (RGA) from May 16 to May 18 showed a party in an optimistic mood. There were plenty reasons to celebrate; the party adopted a new platform and in 2014, on its 25th birthday, the party is larger and more popular than ever. Russian White Guards in the Donbass
4 July 2014, byThere is no revolution in the Donbass, not even a mass movement. They exist only in the propaganda of the supporters of an armed separatist movement, led by far-right nationalists. Imported from Russia, they seek the restoration of the Tsarist Empire. The Kremlin supports this reincarnation of the White Guards and the Black Hundreds who are destabilizing Ukraine; but it seems that it is also afraid of them.
“We will not really change things in the European Parliament”

Decline of bipartisanship, rise of Podemos and strengthening of the Catalan sovereignist movement
3 July 2014, byIn spite of the fact that participation was only 45.85%, the elections to the European Parliament on May 25, 2014 in became the first test of the evolution of the Spanish political and social situation since the Popular Party (PP) came to power in late 2011. For this reason, although they are not extrapolable to the general elections, the results mark a turning point in the context of the worsening of the crisis of regime and the cycle of struggles inaugurated three years ago by the 15M (the movement of the indignant), indicating a radical change in the political panorama in the years to come.
