From January 25 to 30, the first World Social Forum convened in Porto Alegre, Brazil - grassroots activists, international NGOs and social movements in the global struggle against neo-liberalism. The World Economic Forum, which held its own annual meeting from January 25 to 30 in Davos, Switzerland, barricaded itself against hundreds of anti-globalisation protestors.
