The ecofeminist movement was born a few decades ago from the observation that there is an analogy between the exploitation of women and the exploitation of nature. In the current context of urgency and collapse and as the concept of the convergence of struggles resurfaces, interest in this feminist movement is resurfacing. For Marijke Colle, an ecofeminist from the first, who is better situated than women to become aware of the interconnection between nature and human life, and the urgency of action to stop the destruction of the planet?

The second ecology seminar organized by the Fourth International represents a significant step forward for the sections of the Fourth International and its sympathising organisations. The presence of members of the national leaderships was proof of the fact that our work and activities linked to the ecological crisis is increasing and also that our ecosocialist alternative to the capitalist system, is becoming more and more a central concern our organisations in many countries. This was partly the result of integrating the resolutions of the last two world congresses on the ecological crisis at national level.

Ecofeminism developed in the 1980's in the context of a growing green movement and of large anti-war and anti-nuclear missiles mobilisations. The ‘worldview' of ecofeminists resonates today with the fights of indigenous people and of farmers organisations such as La Via Campesina.
