A presidential election to ensure the system's continuity

In the days leading up to 12 December 2019 in Paris, New York and even Montreal in a temperature of -13Â°C, Algerians organized themselves in front of the polling stations to put the case for voters not to endorse the electoral masquerade. They wanted to set an example from the outside to the Algerian people. This gave confidence to the people to contest the presidential election called by the de facto regime in order to ensure its continuity.

On 12 December 2019 the government in power, the de facto government, embodied by the general staff, organized an election. It mobilized all the forces at its disposal in terms of security forces and allegiance networks to force a passage. But all over Algeria, the people took to the streets to say no to the elections held by the former regime.

Surprise after surprise in Algeria: President Bouteflika appointed the general who wanted to remove him as minister, before announcing his own resignation on 2 April 2019. Kamel AÃ¯ssat, an activist in the Parti socialiste des travailleurs (Socialist Workers' Party, Algerian section of the Fourth International), explained the situation to Sam Wahch and Antoine Larrache of the NPA newspaperl l'Anticapitaliste on 1 April 2019.
