Defend the Catalan Republic and open the Constituent Process

Today [27 October] Parliament approved the resolution that Catalonia become an independent Republic and for the opening of a constituent process based on the will of the people expressed in the referendum on 1 October. We support and welcome this decision, but it has not convinced the whole of the democratic Catalan bloc. The break with the regime was a necessary step for 1 October to be irreversible. However, it lacked a left hand to integrate non-pro-independence sensitivities, that must be included in the constituent process.

We defy article 155

1. The invoking of Article 155 by the Rajoy cabinet is a coup d'etat in Catalonia. This attack aims to dissolve an elected government and impose elections on an autonomous region, ignoring the democratic mandate of October 1 and the appeals for dialogue. It is an attack that is also directed at the public media in Catalonia that have already stated that this is a violation of "freedom of expression and information" and that they will not comply.

Anticapitalistes support the Referendum Law

Today, 20 September, the Spanish state federal government stepped up its attack on the right of the people of Catalonia to hold a referendum on national independence.

The Fourth Internationalists in Catalonia stand firmly in defence of this fundamental democratic right of the people of Catalonia. This statement was issued earlier, at the moment when the Catlinian government passed the law. We will publish more as we can.
