While it is accepted that Gaddafi and his model of ruling is autocratic and repressive and cannot be supported by any progressive grouping a few things also need to be stated about NATO and its discourse of humanitarian intervention and let us state them clearly:
Socialist Resistance, British section of the Fourth International, held a successful and well attended national conference on the 2nd/3rd April 2011, with a session on the impact of the Arab revolutions and the imperialist intervention in Libya. Two resolutions were adopted on the Arab revolutions which are below.
What are the different arguments surrounding the debate on no-fly zones? Should foreign powers ever claim the right to intervene or should the people of a country overthrow their own dictators? Do interventionists not always have alterior motives that could undermine the people’s sovereignty over their struggle and it’s outcomes

“This is the culmination of a campaign by the German government that has been going on for months to prevent any solidarity with the people of Palestine and criticism of the German government’s military and political support for Israel.”
